Our Inner Child is the part of us that experiences emotions and is playful, intuitive and creative. Often hidden beneath our “adult” behaviour, our Inner Child is the source of intimacy in our relationships, our physical and emotional well-being, and the wisdom of our selves. It is at the same time our most vulnerable part and the source of our greatest strength.


In Inner Child Coaching the emphasis is on the role that your childhood plays in the challenges you are now experiencing. It is about the emotional and health complaints that you now have as an adult and that are the result of loss, pain, sadness, misunderstanding, rejection, etc. as a child. It is not about what did happen to you as a child, on the contrary. It's about what didn't happen to you. Emotional neglect is very subtle and can affect your life as an adult in insidious ways. It can cause you to struggle with self-discipline, self-care, or to feel unworthy, unfulfilled, and disconnected.


Burnout is not the result of hard work as such. There is an underlying psycho-dynamics that leads to chronic overload and which is sometimes so persistent that someone burns out again. To prevent that, an inner change process is needed.


By coming into contact with your Inner Child, getting to know and understand it, you can give yourself what you need. This contact increases your emotional intelligence so that you can become more aware, more resilient and more self-confident in life.

The contact with your Inner Child is not childish. On the contrary, it helps you, as an adult, to get what you need right now and to take care of yourself, such as consciously balancing your priorities and your energy.

The Inner Child has its roots in Jungian ideology in which he referred to the divine child archetype. In Transactional Analysis, Eric Berne presented a way to add observable data to Freud's philosophical construct. Inner Child Work is not a therapy, but a collection of therapeutic methods for both psychotherapeutic processes and coaching programmes. These support the development and strengthening of a "nurturing parent" and a "protective parent" to better care for one's own physical, emotional, creative and spiritual needs, for example by developing ways to deal with the "critical" parent "in oneself.
